Kurtruck...(Opps...I spelled your name backward) I know I am bad with numbers and have to check and recheck to get them right. But your post above was #10997. Since that post is 79 posts until post #11076 happens...how can we know the answer???

Unless maybe this so-called upgraded forum is supplying different post numbers along with some of the other quirky things it does?

    • To the question on Fremont Street in Las Vegas in 1960, my squinting eyes on the slightly larger picture thinks the truck is an International K2. Vegas at the time did have some rural areas still around and it may have been a Saturday when it was time to come to town.

        • Straining hard to find a Studebaker here, but it doesn't look like Studebaker had much market penetration in Columbia SC.

However, look closely in the extreme upper right corner of the photo. There's a black and white car (black roof) that looks like it might be a 1957 Packard Clipper. What do you think?

          • I'll say 53/4 Land Cruiser or early '55 President.

It doesn't appear to have a wrap-around windshield.

Hey, ya gotta wear your Letterman's sweater, no matter what the weather. They weren't cheap and they sometimes got the girls.

                            • Here's a great group of photos. I think you can find a Studebaker in one of them if you don't look too close!

It’s the trip Europeans love to see Americans take in movies but scorn in reality, holding up the road trip as evidence of how small-minded and dumb Americans are for not wanting to spend a fortune doing the same thing in squashed cars and on-the-meter … Continue reading "The Great American Road Trip – In Mid-Century Kodachrome"
