Does Barrett-Jackson liberally lubricate the crowd with spirits? That's what Kruse used to do when I worked an auction or two of theirs years ago.[}]

Yes, they have a free "bidders bar".
But I think the TV exposure and the big name they've made for themselves have more to do with the higher prices seen there than at other auctions.

Example: If you were a guy that wants a new toy to show off and play with, what would sound better at the country club, burger stand, or a local show...
"I Bought it at Barrett-Jackson on TV"
      or
      "I bought it at Silver"
      TV works wonders.

I'd love to know the deal between Speed and B-J. In a fair world, B-J would pay Speed big bucks....but I'm sure it's the other way around.

Just arrived as the 57 Golden Hawk went on the block. Gavel went down at $51,000.

I will log off now and go see if I can get some pictures of the Studes.

Their "media center" is surprisingly small and doesn't have wireless Internet and just a few hardline hookups. Will report back when I can.

That's higher than the total aggregate of all the Stude's from a few of the guys here
The contest is getting better all the time!

I guessed $47900 on the Hawk. Does it go to the closest bid without going over like The Price Is Right?

I really sort of stopped watching the Barrett-Jackson auctions because of the inflated prices cars are going for. I guess the people who overbid have more money than brains. Wait till they try to sell the car that they overbid on. SURPRISE!!!!!
Even the commentators don't know what they're talking about.
