Here's two that I can remember that were Studebaker dealers in the 60's: Madren Brothers--Spokane, Washington. Also sold Toyota. Freeburg Motors--Hwy 3 Pocahontas, Iowa. Became a Chrysler-Plymouth Dealer. No longer in the car business. Building is still there, though.

The Sept '06 issue of the "Northstar Wheel" newsletter for the twin cities area chapter of SDC has a small article about some Studebaker dealers in Minneapolis. I'll quote from the newsletter:

"As I recall, in addition to Randolph Light Studebaker dealership
there were at least two other Studebaker dealerships in
Minneapolis; Steenerson Studebaker on Lyndale Avenue North
between Plymouth Avenue and West Broadway, and Jim Angeles
Studebaker in the Hennepin-Harmon area near downtown."

It so happens that my '53 was sold from Steenerson's. I still have the barely legible aluminum plate saying "Steenerson Motor Co Minneapolis" that was mounted just about the trunk handle.

Some time back TW had a article about the Baker Brother's dealer in Redwood Falls, MN too.

I remember going to Clayton Motors. They had more wagons with a third row seat on their lot than I have seen in total since.

There was a dealership named Archer and LaCrosse in Wyandotte, Mi. This is where the 64' Cruiser I recently bought was purchased new by Art Castle. I have in my possession the window sticker that Art kept.

My truck still sport's it's Pierotti Motors - Fremont license plate frames. I'd love to get them replated, but they are pot metal, and thin.

Small world. I looked seriosuly at a very nice 64 (transition model) Avanti there in 69 or 70. They were buying Avantis and refurbishing them. I think there franchise by then was Datsun.

For those who attended the Pacific Can-Am Zone Meet in The Dalles, Oregon in 2000 will remember the orange 2R pickup hauling around a restored dealer sign from C.H, Urness Motors. It is now a Chrysler dealer and the sign was found in the basement of the premesis. From what I understand, the Northwest Chapter in Portland funded its restoration including the neon tubing on the one side.

I am kicking this post to the top to remind to let everyone know that I am offically caught up on this topic and need more names! Also IF by chance you have some little tidbit of the Studebaker dealer that sold you your car. Example: window sticker, license plate holder, name tag off the back of car, key chain. A photo of this would be great to share on the list. Any one with dealer photos, photos of dealer signage that would be great to add as well. Thanks to all of you for helping in to perserve a small part of Studebaker History.

                          Randy,

When I was at the Reedsville swap meet I bought several pieces of Letterhead paper for another former dealer here in Richmomd. Their name was Lauritzen Motors Incorporated and they were located at 1611 West Broad Street.

                            Some dealers I know of:
Schwing Motor Company, 3326 Keswick Rd, Baltimore, MD. I think they are still in business, sell Mercedes. Fred Schwing, current owner of the dealership started by his father, was a few years ahead of me in high school, dated my sister when he drove a '53 Starliner in the late 1950's. That car hooked me on Studes. I think the dealership building got landmark status.

Fox Buick, 650 North Antrim Way, Greencastle, PA. May now be Hicks Chevrolet/Buick/etc. but still there according to Google. My '65 Wagonaire was delivered there after assembly on June 23, 1965, according to the build record.

Dietz & Meekins, Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard, Mass. A tiny dealership. Building still there but now houses a pizza shop and convenience store. Grandson of original car dealer now owns a motel about 200 yards away, also owns a restored '63 Avanti. My '63 Wagonaire Standard was delivered new here in the spring of 1963, never the left the 25-mile long island until I bought it in 2005.

My Lark has a rear license plate frame that reads:

                                BARNEY'S
                                Lark/Hawk
                                Escondido

Apparently from a dealer in Escondido, CA. - but I've talked to has ever heard of them or knows anything about them
