  • Engine: Studebaker cylinder head casting numb

Sometime in the past, I saw a list of Studebaker cylinder head casting numbers. Anyone know if that still exists and where I can find it?
    Thanks

Be SURE to read the Notes at the bottom, because the chart has a lot of Errors and is confusing.
A Lot of the confusion happens when you use Different Pistons affecting the Compression Ratio in a BIG Way.

For 289's with the most common: 1537555 or 1557570 Casting 8.25/8.50 to 1 Heads, it is as follows:

Deep Dish 289 Stock Piston 8.25 to 8.50 to 1.
Avanti Flat Top Stock Piston 10.25 to 1.
Avanti Aftermarket SHALLOW Dish Piston which will produce about the Same Lower Compression with Stock 1557570 Heads as the R2/Truck Heads will, around 9.0.

Then in a smaller Way, the Thick Sandwich Type Head Gasket for about a 1/2 Point reduction over the '58 to '64 Factory Ratings, Thin embossed Steel, Shim Type, is misunderstood to be used for Factory Ratings on Cars After 1957, which it definitely was NOT!

What is it that you actually need to know?
