#9447 is the USS Kitty Hawk coming into Bremerton, WA in 1964 for an overhaul. Since she would be in the shipyard for about a year, her home port was temporarily changed allowing many sailors to bring family members and cars along.

I was more concerned with the damage her heel might have done to that aluminum floor molding. Guess I must be getting old......

A man after my own heart -- driving a 28-year old car. Wish he'd fill that side mount, though.

He is holding onto it because it is a rumble seat coupe. The step can be seen on the fender and the trunk handle is at the top of the lid. Rare by 1936. Last year for Studebaker was 1937.

Nice pic, Dwain! I visited the Kitty Hawk during an open house, as my grand-dad worked at the PSNSY, I was about 7.

Seattle, WA., Alaskan way near the ferry terminal. The viaduct in the background is a short timer-a tunnel that will replace it is nearly complete!
