What is the convertible following the Stude 2door sedan out of the parking area? The front looks like a Lark, but of course the pic is too early for that. The rear doesn't look like a U.S. make. What is it?

Some, & probably these ones, Renaults in these days had Gordini Hemi heads & two dual Webers & hot cams & at least 110 hp, sum that up with weight...

There was no Gordini Hemi head for the Dauphine. He did this for the R8, though. The top of the line was the Dauphine 1093 which culminated at 55 S.A.E HP. Of course, some preparations were more powerful but noticeably fragile.

It is a Hillman, but it is a Mark IV (1949-51) or Mark V (1951-53). The change to a Series designation occurred in 1957. There is a Studebaker connection with both of them as Raymond Loewy was responsible for their design. The Mark IV was the first unit body Hillman and a quick examination of a 1957 Series 1 will reveal several styling cues taken from the 1953 Studebaker body design.

There is a further Studebaker connection with the Rootes Group. Barney Roos, who designed the original President 8 was also responsible for the design of several engines for the Rootes Group.
