Bob, I'm not even getting the generic landscape photos. Hope this gets fixed before I develop a complex. Or better...maybe I can file a claim with the government that this has caused me to need a "safe Space!"

Does that request have to go through the VA, John? BP

            • Newby here who spent the last 4 days looking through 7,434 posts. Many of which were very interesting, some had no photo as in 7422-7428, quite a few earlier had photo accounts closed, and there were a lot of duplicate photos without additional information. Although I learned a lot, I was frustrated by those problems. I don't know if the missing photo posts can be corrected to alleviate similar concerns by future newbies. Just thought I'd mention it though.

So while I'm here, I'll try to fill in some information on previous posts and add a couple of my own.
Thanks for listening to my rambling.

When I ran my Pontiac in '64 and GTO in '65 at the Glass City track (actually the old Toledo airport), I saw him occasionally. Over the winter I decided I'd rather not continue using the GTO, so I bought a '52 2-dr sedan with a bad motor and fixed it to race and have street fun. I won class every week in '66, except the one time Bill showed up and embarrassed me badly. I wrecked the car that Fall, but couldn't get Bill's car out of my head. I then found a '52 Starlight coupe and that's the start of my next story.

To add to this photo, I'd suspect it was taken in '69-'70. The class marking is V/S. NHRA kept changing class designations almost every year. I remember racing M/S or N/S, T/S, and U/S all being the same class. I switched to AHRA during the '68 season. Since Bill had apparently held the NHRA record at one point, I'm sure Ted Harbit can further identify the time when Bill held it.

Your 'rambling' takes a distant second to being able to fill in the blanks.

Thank you for any updates you can provide.

in front of Swamp Rat, Don Garlit got beat that day, Don is sitting behind his car in the trunk of a Studebaker, which model? Don Garlit had a soft spot for Studebakers.

Most definitely something to remember. BTW, the '52 looks more to be a Starlight coupe, assuming those are rear window bars I see. Don has a '51 Starlight in his museum.

Strange... they look fine here. I'll try to fix 'em this evening. I'm kinda worried 'bout John!

                              EDIT:

Think I got 'em fixed... they look the same to me, but I relocated the files.
