Good call! Now which car do you suppose he's going over the work order (R/O - Repair Order) for?

The 1941 Pontiac, 1941 Buick parked in front of him, the beat up 1937 Chevy parked behind, or the 1950 Chevy 2 door sedan parked on the parkway?

    • It is possible that the uniform might be that of a service station attendant, but there is what appears to be a police car in the picture. The Ford at the lower right corner has an atenna on the roof.

      • Interesting... Wonder where that pic was taken?
There used to be a WRC Truck Parts in the south side of Chicago (way back when).
The WRC stood for Washington Rubber Company....

A Service station operator with pressed pants, white tie, and a side arm?

          • He does look a bit too tidy for a station attendant.

Craig, I really needed to blow up hype picture to see the Hudson dealer across the street!

This photo was taken at the South end of the old US Route 1 bridge over the James River coming out of downtown Richmond (the center of the City is in the background). The old State Penitentiary was across the River on the left as one headed South over the bridge. My family had to cross this bridge to visit relatives who lived beyond South Richmond in the early 1950's.

I have no idea what is going on here other than it appears to be a traffic problem. As I remember this curve, there were no traffic lights at this intersection with the street coming in on the left (as you look at the photo). As a pre-teen, I remember this was the biggest bridge I had ever seen. In fact, coming out of a rural area of the Shenandoah Valley, it was awesome to ride through Richmond-a whole new world for my brothers and I.

                          • It seems Richmond was definitely a GM town when that picture was taken. Besides the Studebaker, there is a bathtub Nash and a Packard(?) fastback, two Fords and two Chrysler products. Virtually everything else is GM.
