ID:	1870886Thanks. But am not sure I was old enough to feel proud or appreciate the effort that went into the buses. The plastic windows are now yellowed with age, so it's hard to see that they were completely equipped inside, with seats, stairs to the second deck, dashboard, and steering wheel. My father never finished some of the details or the lettering on the the open-top bus -- I guess after the War, metal toy cars and trucks were again available, and life intervened. But both buses got used a lot. Note crunched rear corner on the closed-top model.

    • Those are two very cool models. Are the wheels wood as well?

      • The wheels appear to be Bakelite. They are not wood.

        • Hmmm, driver wasn't watching his tail-swing and clipped a light post!

          • From the December 20, 2020 Old Motor. Rarely is a 1956 Studebaker Champion (no V8 flags) one of the biggest cars in a parking lot! (I hope some of those people don't want to leave before others, because about half the cars are boxed in and will be unable to do so!)

            • That IS odd.
Anyone able to identify that red bus/van looking thing in the middle center?

The interesting variety of British, European and American vehicles in the picture leaves a lot of possibilities. Bedford vans, made in England, looked something like that one.

I wonder where this was taken. The cars drive on the left. The license plates remind me of New Zealand's.

                • Mixture of makes and driving on the left indicates Australia or New Zealand.

                  • Since there's what I think is a Holden wagon I also think Australia or New Zeeland.
The Lancia Aurelia(?) sure was a nice car!

                    • Also from the Sunday, December 20, 2020 Old Motor.

Looking through and over the 1964 Hawk to the blue car parked in the next row; could this be a two-fer with a 1964 sedan? I can't tell:

                      • It sure looks like it. What other car has that rear roof line?

                        • To answer the location question RE: Post #11287:

The caption in The Old Motor says the location is Port Molyneux, New Zealand; specifically, "The Kaka Point Beach Surf Meet." BP

                            • 11383 --- For those wondering, the car facing toward us beside the Oldsmobile is a 1949 Meteor. This was a re-styled Ford built by Ford of Canada and sold only in Canada by Mercury dealers. 1949 was Meteor's first year.

Thanks for that information. I was going to ask about that. BP
