I attended the World's Fair a few times in my new 1965 Sport Fury hardtop. I remember spending some time at the Charger II show car. When the factory reps learned that I was there in my 1965 Sport Fury they seemed to be more interested in my comments about the show car. I ordered my 1966 Charger as early as I could and had the first one in this area.

Then you will probably appreciate this book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...ies-of-detroit

It has a chapter with interesting information on the Charger I & II and the later 'winged' cars.

Thanks for the tip. I was not familiar with this book. Do you have a copy of the book to know that the Charger II is covered because I do not see it included in the write-up?

Creative Industries did the 1955 & 1956 Packard Caribbeans.

I lock my car (in my case my truck) when I get out of it to pump gas. Here in the Atlanta area we have these crooks called 'sliders'. If you leave your key in the ignition and get out to pump gas they'll slide in and leave you standing there holding the pump nozzle and no car. They've even stole cars with babies in the back seat.

                • M-Series truck at 1:31 and an F-body 50? at 4:27...and, no, I've never had any desire to do something as silly (stupid?) as depicted in this video!

(I had no idea there were that many junk Edsels, even a couple convertibles, in one place, either, as seen in the last couple minutes!)

There may be other Studebakers in this, so freeze frame if you think you seen one and post accordingly:

There are two M series at the famous Route 66 landmark U-Drop-Inn, one is visible, the other is inside the building.

                      • From The Old Motor today, a University of Minnesota parking lot. Click to enlarge.

To locate what I believe to be a darker grayish-green 1947-1952 Stude, first ignore the row of cars facing the viewer; the row against the fence.

Counting the first row of cars pointing away from the viewer as Row #1, go up to Row #5. I believe that's a cream-colored 1957 Oldsmobile on the far left end of that row.

Then, still in Row #5, look at the sixth car in from the left. What I believe is a Studebaker is between two light-colored cars with dark roofs.

Anyone concur? Anyone see any other Studes?

That dark green car is definitely a Studebaker, there's also a 1951/52 Packard 200 in the 3rd row.

                          • Bob P. - On my small screen, I concur and I thought that I saw another Studebaker, then when I went back to the picture I couldn't find it. There seems to be an unusually large percentage of Ford/Mercury/Lincoln cars in that lot.

If I'm not mistaken, Gary; Ford had a large Minneapolis/St.Paul Assembly Plant at the time, which would account for an unusually-high percentage of FoMoCo products in such a photograph. That plant last built the popular Rangers before they were discontinued after, what, the 2011 model year?

It's my understanding the land on which that assembly plant was built was becoming increasingly-valuable to real estate developers, so it may have been demolished after they ceased Ranger production. (I haven't checked into all that, however, so it is subjuect to verification.) BP

We lived in Minneapolis at the time that picture was taken, and Dad purchased a Ford from a dealer on Lake Street, because they were built in St.Paul. The car rusted out in about 4 years and he never bought another Ford.
