You are exactly correct. The entire intent of the thread was to be about one of my favorite subjects- seeing the cars in their natural use, in photos from the period in which they were in normal, every day use. It was to be a chance to see these types of photos in one place, all in one thread.

There are plenty of threads of modern photos, and it is very easy to start new ones. Why not just do that, instead of after all this time taking this thread off course?

I can see that I failed to make that intent clear way back at the beginning. I had assumed everyone knew what I meant, and for a few years it seems everyone did.

Good question. It is difficult to see a lot of detail under the truck and it is not clear what type of drive train and engine it might have. I have never seen one of these before. Maybe someone else has some information on it. Also, how many of them were built? Do any survive today?

It appears to be so, the battery pack midship between the front and rear wheels taking up the most space (and weight) on the chassis. RQ posted some photos of early electric commercials here in post #21 http://forum.studebakerdriversclub.c...eattle+library

Craig, yes, I think you are right. That is probably a battery box underneath. The pictures of the electric trucks in the link you sent are very similar. I had not seen pictures of these before. I do believe I have learned something new today and it is only 6:58 AM!

You're right, Bob. Now is that van a Ford, a Dodge or a Chevy?

                          • I think it's a Chevy Sport van, I had a -66 once, like Scobydoo.

                            • It could be a Chevy; I believe the rear doors were slanted a little more forward at the top than the Dodge or Ford contemporaries. BP
