  • Frame / Springs: rubber body mounts

I have a 62 gt hawk and I am putting the body back on the frame. I know they made rubber body mounts in three thickness'. Is there a chart which tells you what thickness goes where? I looked in the body parts catalog and they list the same part number for all three.

In fact, you have to select the right thickness yourself. Thus, you'll compensate for slight distortions and obtain an aligned body.
This has been discussed many times here and you'll get detailed responses by using the search button.
By the way, I have a 63 model.

The way I plan to do mine is with two smaller rubber pads cut from a big truck mud flap and then use steel body shims between them where I need more thickness.

This is the way to do it. I did my 54K like that with pieces cut from a conveyor belt. You just need to find a source of fiber filled rubber like we described or an old tire carcass.

Because I did significant metal replacement on the rotisserie, I lower the body above the frame and measured the distance between the frame and body. At the narrowest gap I put one rubber pad. At other points I used one pad and however many steel shims it took to fill the gap as described by swvalcon above. Just be sure the door gaps are correct as you do this unless you added bracing to the body before you lifted it off frame like I did.
