Engine: 259 / 289 engine block needed

Hi friends. I disassembled the short block from my '58 President today and discovered a hole in a cylinder bore through to the water jacket. I am seeking a replacement block that is in machinable condition. This is a partial flow engine. I only need the bare block with the main caps but would consider a partial or complete short block. I am located in central Florida and am willing to travel all over FL to pick it up.

In the unlikely event the rest of the block checks out good, since you'll most likely be boring oversize anyway, sleeving one bad hole isn't very expensive.

Don't forget 224" blocks are also an option.

Check the coolant passages carefully, else the new block may be the same as the old block. I'm always amazed at the crud and sludge which comes out of Stude V8 blocks. Most also still have factory core sand in there.

We sonic test all blocks and I don't think I've seen one rust through on a standard bore, but recently we did hit a rust pit when boring a '58 Packard 289" block to .117" over. It was just one crater in one place, but glad we found it and that it wasn't hiding under that last .010" of sound iron.

There are one of those here too, complete and with relatively low miles. Nobody wants it.

Hmm, I just have wonder if this is just another '58 to '59 or '60 block from the Block Mold with the Horizontal, lengthwise 'Ribs" or grooves just below the Cylinder Heads near the Lifter Chamber? The ones that no one believes me, are prone to problems.

After 6 decades, I think it's a little unrealistic to blame any problems on a potential production defect.
