Here is what I found on a new 1406 carb. The notch serves to locate the venturi. It was on the wrong way! It resulted in a very lean mixture @ 1500 to 2500 RPM. I had this carb apart so many times I can do it in my sleep. Jegs gave me the correect part. Maybe there is a right and left? I was told next time I have a problem with their products please contact them and they will make it right.
Now the 62 Hawk and SBC 350 runs perfect!
