  • Body / Glass: Anyone have one of these they'd part with ?

    The fender vent operating mechanism....
(because the air conditioner hardware gets in the way of the normal operating mechanism on the passenger side, and this seems like it would work if I modified the little door.)

I had that same issue. What I did was cut the rod from lever to door match the bend that moved the lever under the glove box and out of the way of the under dash a/c.

I have had the same issue with all Hawks I've installed AC on. I simply bend the little, round handle end about 90 degrees, to where it is pointing straight toward the passenger side of the car. It will then glide along, just above the AC evaporator. You'll need to use the fingertips a bit more, but it works slick as a whistle.

My a/c unit is a little too close for that, I've been goofing around with it for a while, and it really looks like the best solution is to mirror the other side. I have a little door for that, too.

I'm installing A/C in my '64 GT and have been looking at that issue as well. It seems that Stude moved the mounting bracket to the right -about the distance of the screws that hold it under the dash. The rod is then shortened that length accordingly.

I found one, but it will have to be plated or painted. I don't think it will clean up. I have the lever and rod. didn't see the little plate. If you don't find a nice one, let me know. I will look for the little plate the weekend. Course if you don't want it I won't hunt the little plate

Would love to have it. Let me know the details ($, postage etc.) and I'll get that to you. The little plate would be a bonus, have to make one otherwise.
