    oops forgot photos....

    the counter-sunk end of the 'pusher' allows the inner sleeve and exposed rubber end of the bushing to fit in the pusher so that the pusher bears square and flat on the end of outside diameter of the bushing. Most of the length of the pusher is relieved to reduce excess friction in the spring eye or the tubing in the frame.

      To me, that job never goes well, and is probably the most hated job on a Stude. Last time, I wound up getting the guts out first, then had to hold a hacksaw blade in hand to pass though the frame/outer shell, then saw back and forth to cut it down the middle. I then peeled it out of the frame with a pair of dikes. Yep, the gas tank almost has to come off too. What a PITA

        I did this job on Buttercup a couple weeks ago and it was a piece-o-cake.
        Of course the gas tank was out and the rear fenders were off.
        On the left rear I had to use the smoke wrench to get the outer shell out of the frame. Just split it and peeled it out.
