  • Exhaust: Black Light Lark

Who owned this lark and wasn't there an article on it somewhere?
Here are the details of it. I would like to know more specifics on the headers.

Homemade "ram" intake, ported heads, oversize Chevy valves, re-bent Jeep headers, home-built HEI ignition, T-10 4 speed, Oldsmobile scattershield, Studebaker R-1 Cam, Chevy clutch, and ladder bars

I took pictures of it over 20 years ago at a Nashville TN show. It had no hood or inner fenders. I don't think it had window regulators in it either. It had aluminum wheels. Seems like he drove it to the show.

You might have more luck if you describe the outside of the car. Things like year, number of doors, paint color, interior color, wheels and such.

59 or 60 2 door I know several people will remember it. I think the owners last name started with an S.

You are probably thinking of Mike Scherer's Lark. It was a fast car and impressed a few folks.

I never knew the car was destroyed. Sad story.

Found this on Studebaker V8 Discussion page on the Black Light Lark. Does anyone have any Jeep headers to see how much there off on the stude head?

The best is to use REAL headers or make some. We used AMC JEEP 4-tube headers that were rebent somewhat to fit the three-outlet Stude heads with a little port divider bolted to the center siamesed Stude port. The tube headers helped.

Of course, now that the original is melted, you are free to build a Black Lite Lark.
