My mechanic recommends an additive called Power Punch. Anyone have experience with it? It is made in Dwain Grindinger's neighborhood.

I have used it before, same stuff as Lucas, Casite Motor Honey, STP, you name it. It is ok and it's not going to hurt anything to use it. I usually add a long chain molecule oil additive to help the oil cling and help a LITTLE on dry starts. Don't ever use it hoping to alleviate more serious engine problems. Chemicals won't help.Bez Auto Alchemy

Have never seen it on the lower west coast.
According to the MSDS is IS made of a petrolium base, so it IS a lubricant.
Interesting on how, many of these "super lubes" are...somewhat neglegent on the ingrediants in their MSDS and their other "information" pages. Though per a person I talked to sometime back while trying to get info on their motorcycle chain oil, we did talk briefully talk about their Heavy Duty Lube. I was told that it is the base for a "few" companies breakin oil. Obviously no way to proove or disproove this. Buyer bewair...
And no, I've never had any of these things analyzed for their ingrediants.

Not even if it were free.
I've got a friend who is a petroleum engineer and it makes him crazy to see the crappage consumers pay for to pour in their engines and spoil his carefully formulated and tested lubrication products.

I worked with a guy in the mid-seventies who was a chemical engineer and he added a quart of automatic transmission fluid every oil change. My brother and I rebuilt his motor at 100,00 miles and it had very little wear in the cylinders. The car was a 70 Pontiac with a 350 Pontiac engine.

.....one would ask nicely: what caused the rebuild ?? and on another note..... (I know I've said this before..), a Phillips Petroleum engineer acquaintance some years ago told me good oil's only offender is moisture ! Not particulates (why a filter, a full flow at that)

Quite honestly, as I remember, the Pontiac really didn't need a rebuild but the owner saw it was getting close to 100,00 miles and decided to have it done. We replaced the cam, timing chain, new bearings, rings and a valve job done on the heads.
