  • Body / Glass: Help ID unknown long sill plates SOLVED

A recent post looking for sill plates for a 1950 Land Cruiser sent me scurrying into the garage. I no longer have my Land Cruiser (Boris), but I still have some sill plates I bought from Vern Ediger. The longer sill plates for the rear measure about 36-37". But the guy looking for replacements for his '50 Land Cruiser says his measure about 32" long.

So what model of Land Cruiser would have had rear sill plates which are 36-37" long? I thought the 1950 was the longest post war car Studebaker made. I'd just as soon sell these and use the money for my Hawk, but now I'm not sure what to advertise them for.

Can anyone help me ID these extra long sill plates? (I can post a picture later, but really, the length is the issue.)

    Paul

    Paul,

I just now measured the one on the front driver's door. It measures 36"/37". Maybe you got all fronts. But if the others are even a little longer, I have no idea what you have. 2 door/coupe maybe? The back are definitely about 30-3/4"/32-1/2"

Boy do I feel stupid! I was assuming (and now see how dangerous THAT is!) that the long ones were for the rear because of the extended door length.

It turns out I have three of the front sills (36-37") and two of the rear sills (30-32") It's been a long time since I've had Boris around to look at.

      Sorry for the confusion.
