Do you have the brackets to install? In some GTs I've seen a long bracket that attaches to the evaporator as opposed to the Lark type brackets. It appears to aid in keeping the dash from cracking as it's 'glass. I haven't put the A/C in my '64 GT yet so can't help with dimensions & my buddy's GT w/A/C is all packed in the garage . Can you get info from the templates available through the Forum resource? Rob in PA.

I don't have brackets. That's the problem. There's car 60 miles from me but I have to catch him when he's home.

I removed the OEM AC from my 63GT (only thing left is the weird hood prop rod). Looking at your pic, if you move the unit to the right about 2", to where the upper left corner of the unit just kisses the edge of that lowered, driver's side corner, then raise the unit to about 1" below the wide, flat surface of the lower dash, you are right on target.
Sorry I don't have pix, but if I could find the brackets I'd mail them to you. I likely threw them away, along with most of the rest of the OEM AC stuff.

                      Joe,
Thanks for the reply. It looks like the right fender vent lever would have to relocated then.

Gee! It takes guts to so publicly confess this horrible sin before the Studebaker world.

Doing so to someone desperately in need of said parts is doubly cruel.

Repent and seek forgiveness. We hypocrites of the "brotherhood of gathered deteriorating rusty parts" await your absolution.

Joe...Could that weird hood prop rod have been bent to clear the the condensor in front of the radiator?

Nope. That lever just barely cleared the upper side of the evaporator. And that is a good reference point for where to locate your evaporator, left-to-right.

However, if yours needs to be bent a little, it will easily bend anyway it needs to go, just like a can lid. You'd have to bend it back & forth several times to break it. I bent, even contorted the heck out of the one on the 62GT to accommodate the EFI harness, which I chose to bring through the firewall right behind it.

                              Hi Peter,
That would be my guess, though the other type clears just fine too. This one does not have the crook on the end that goes into the hood lip when raised. It is also a couple of inches shorter, which causes the hood to sit a little lower when propped open.
