  • Body / Glass: 41 Stude Champion Body Plate

I have a 1941 Studebaker Champion with the body plate reading 11AF-3 on the first line and 2116 on the second line. Can anyone tell me what these numbers and letters tell me? I have searched the web and cannot find the info. Thanks for anyone who can help.

    Semper Fi,

11A is the number for the 1941 Commander. The F3 is the body style and 2116 is the body serial number. My Champion is 3G /F-5 /4878 which is a 2 dr Sedan

thanks so much John. Looks like i might have a Commander on my hands and not a Champion. Not much to go off of. Still researching.

Do you have the data plate on the Driver's side front post?

the data plate is detached because the fire wall was modified. There is a serial number plate on the drivers side below the post. Is that what your talking about?

Yes. If you have that plate, go the website I gave you and you can see if that number jives with the range of numbers produced for that year and model.

thanks again John, I might just have a Commander front end on a Champion Body. Looking at all the pictures my grills look to be in the position of a Commander but I will see what the serial number tells me.

                  Greg,

Another quick search of the internet found that 41,000 or so Commanders and 84,000 or so Champions were for that year. Best of luck figuring out what you have.
