This follows up on June 9 question re 4 holes in R2 manifold. The engine rebuilder, who a retired NASCAR engine builder,says he has seen this before and it is consistent with someone injecting or trying to inject nitreous. I tend to believe this as from 1963 to mid 1970's three engines were blown up in this car. The holes are now closed off. Ken, Deltavile Va

Don't know anything about your "4" holes, but if someone were intending to inject nitrous oxide, 8 holes would be required.
That is, one injector location for each cylinder.
Most early nitrous injection was of the "plate" style, that sat between the carb. and manifold. The port inj. didn't come along till years later.
But hell....I'd guess most anything is possible...!
