  • Exhaust: Blocking off Heat Stove

I have a 259 and I have gutted the heat riser valve
I am looking to block off the heat stove on the manifold
some suggested blocking it off with some thin sheet metal ? what gauge and on the head side or intake manifold ?
I have an Edelbrock 1405 Carb with wood spacer

Most all driving is in town
Fuel was Boiling in the carb before I put the wood spacer on

A piece of .020" or so stainless should do. Either side of the gasket...maybe the head side...stop the onrush of dead air before it gets to the gasket.
You'll need to use composition for the blocloff to sink into to seal fully.

You can always pack aluminum foil into the manifold too.

Just a note, if you do a lot of around town driving, and or short trips, it might be better to leave the manifold open to get the fuel to stay in suspension better. Do the exhaust, just leave the intake open.
