  • Engine: What is this part?

    I'm trying to fix the oil eaks in the 62 hawk's 289. While cleaning the undercarriage and engine checking for suspected leaks, I came upon this part on the rear right side of the block above the oil pan. It has nothing attached to it. I couldn't find it in any of my manuals. Can anyone advise me what it is?Click image for larger version

    Looks like a core plug block heater without it's cord.
    (That happens when you forget to unplug it and drive off)
    Just replace your core plugs and rod out the crud from the back passages..

      Thanks Jeff! That makes sense. It just never dawned on me. Luckily, not a source of an oil leak.
