OK, Bob, What later engine has a two hole pattern?

I transplanted a 63 Full flow engine into my '55, kept the radiator, hoses, water manifold. Every thing works, it runs at or below the 165 of the thermostat. There were no blank spaces on the block where the manifold bolted up.....Was the '64, or R series engines different?

Bob,this what got me on this venture.I have an early water manifold from another project that went south,it was sandblasted and is like new inside to match my new rebuilt engine for cleanlyness,to have my late style unit dipped at the machine shop would run me $50.00.that's where the CASO came in to play,I do'nt want to spend that, for no money and some of my time"wich I do'nt put a $ value on,as I'm not in business" I can have this one work.I have to use the 4bolt goose neck because of the thermostat, the smaller hose openings wo'nt be a flow problem.and as far as mixing 2 bolt with 4 bolt there is enough surface to seal good,as long as there is no pits in that area.just makeing due with what has been around here for many years for a good cause.

Tom,it sounds like in your case someone swapped water manifolds on your engine at some point.must of been around 1960? the 2 bolt goose neck was used,as you say it works good and I've seen these swaps over the years and never failed either.

Wait a minnit.. Two bolt...you mean on the thermostat housing. I was talking about where the manifold bolts to the block/head.

Never mind, I got confused. I guess that's a perquisite of age.

No, I've still got the four bolt thermostat housing.

Come on now Tom I think I might be older than you and I think I knew what I was trying to say, if the 2 hole fits and covers and you don't care what it looks like go for it..Bob

water manifold from a GH with the 4 hole pattern for the water input on your later engine that used the 2 hole pattern right?

You said it right, Bob, I didn't read it right.

I think I might be older than you It's nice to be thought of as 'youthful', but
I passed "septuagenarian" last year, coming up on the next one in a couple of months. Can you say that?
