  • Hood Cable broke

My 1951 Champion hood cable handle came off - is there a glue that can fix this or do I need to start looking for a new cable? Also the hood doesn't want to pop up when the cable is pulled. Does that mean that something is out of adjustment where the hood pin meets the latch plate? The spring looks fine.

[8]I guess with another person outside lifting it will pop up when they lift the hood edge but it's a two man job; I still have to find a way to secure the handle end to the cable - is there a way?[?]

First to fix the handle you may have to drill the end of the handle out, then slide it on to the end of the cable. Cross drill the handle with a tiny bit being sure to drill slightly into the metal end of the cable. Tap the handle where you cross drilled it and run a set screw in it. Then as for the hood I would first check hood and hood latch alignment.

My car and my sons car would not "pop" the hood. Sprayed some wd 40 on the spring and pin. Works good now.
