  • Cool/Heat: '39 CE Heater arrangement

All. I have a 1939 CE that I finally got driving after 50 years of Rip Van Winkle time in a tarp tent. I have installed a heater and have some questions for the experience of this group.
First: How do the heater hoses route from the heater pipes on the firewall to the water pump and the cylinder head? I know it is a straight shot but how are the hoses supported? I can't imagine they just lay on top of the cylinder head and just above the exhaust manifold. Note that I have the pump pipe removed and blocked off with a brass plug. Same for the cylinder head.
Second: The lower firewall penetration pipe rubs right up against the oil pressure hose support bracket. Any suggestions on this arrangement? Sure seems wonky to me.
Third: Inside the cab, I have the heater installed. Can anyone tell me what Accessory number this heater was? Are there any diagrams or install directions available at SDC Galaxy headquarters?
Fourth: On the same heater. There is a hole at the bottom with two mounting screw holes. I assume this is for some mechanism to direct heat to the feet of the passenger or such. Any ideas what goes here? Any photos to share of the OEM fix to leaving a hole in the bottom?

As always, thanks in advance for all the help. Al K>

Hi Al the hose from the front of the engine is supported by a bracket that is bent in a circle around the hose and then held in place by 1 of the head bolts. The bracket would be apx 1 in wide and about 4 in long between the circle and the flange for the head bolt. There should be a steel box shaped piece that bolts to the bottom of the heater exhaust that is about 1 ft long that directs air from the bottom to the 2 defroster holes in the upper dash next to the bottom of the windshield. On the firewall there are knock-out holes that the hoses run through and the 3 bolts that supper the heater to the firewall. Send pictures of your heater. Terry

ID:	2076452 Thanks Terry. I will see if I can find one or two of those brackets. As for your request for photos of my heater, I thought I uploaded them. I see them on the posting. But I will re - add them here.

Hi Al There is a flapper that goes down and covers that hole when you want to have your defroster on. On the lower left side of the heater there is a lever that goes to the flapper. You should have a verticle box that converts to round with 2 openings that go to the defroster using flexable tubes. That verticle box sits apx 3 inches above that round hole. There is nothing that covers that hole in the bottom only the flapper. This directs the air to the drivers feet. Al you have the super quad duty defrosting hot water heating system complete with def. attachments. AC-586 it has the 2 front control knobs. your front left know might control the flapper. Terry

Thanks Terry. I am attaching two more photos for clarity. You can see I have the defroster connected. and one can see the hole at the bottom from a different angle. Not sure if this helps understanding what connects to that hole. Maybe I am down a rabbit hole here!!

Next question. I don't have any of those L brackets with a loop on the end to hold the radiator hose. Any idea where I can find one of those? I can probably look a part number if someone reading this mentions the year and make of their stude.

          Thanks again. Al

If you are not able to find original heater hose brackets, here is an option. Reproduced for Jeep. https://www.kaiserwillys.com/product...r-hose-bracket

Al Thanks for the pictures. There is nothing that goes on the end of the duct work from the heater or the hole. The opening is used the heat the drivers feet with the flapper down over the hole the air goes toward the drivers feet. This is 30's tecnogoly. tsenecal has pictures of the hose bracket in post #7. You can make the hose bracket any length you want. The picture shows the hose bracket. Terry
