I removed the driver side window regulator on my Lark because the was the winder was stuck : The gear shaft will not rotate with in the housing. Inside, there are two protruding wire ends within the housing that prevents rotation. I'm stumped. Any suggestions?

There is supposed to be a spring clutch wrapped around the shaft above the gear that is inside the collar. It prevents the regulator from letting the glass go down on bumps in the road. You need a new shaft assy. Do a search, and find the part numbers I posted several years ago.Bez Auto Alchemy

That spring clutch inside the housing is the anti-return clutch. Intended to prevent the window from creeping up under the tension of the big clockspring, or creeping down under the influence of gravity. The pinion should be free-moving on the crank spindle. It has a dog on it that us supposed go in the narrow gap between the spring ends. The spindle itself has a similar dog that goes into the wide gap between the spring ends. Turn the spindle, that dog comes around, engages the clutch spring on the side that releases it, and also moves the pinion to adjust the window. Put the spindle assembly in the wrong way, and your window regulator is locked up solid. If the pinion is seized or rusted to the pinion shaft, the same result occurs. Since you took it apart in an effort to fix a problem, likely a seized pinion is the case.Gord Richmond, within Weasel range of the Alberta Badlands
