  • Clutch / Torque Converter: Brake and clutch pedal positioning

I am assembling the chassis on my 57 sedan and I have been setting up the pedals. This question should apply to all models with through the floor pedals. What acts as the upper stop for the pedals? Parts books show a 530366 and refer to it as a pedal seal. It's a vague description and the illustration shows it positioned between the shafts and pedal pads. That doesn't make sense to me. The SI catalog picture is better and shows it on the shafts below the pedal pads. Do these things go over the shafts and cushion the shafts from hitting the floor plate and act as a stop?
    Thanks

Yes exactly right, all they do is seal the water, dirt and noise out when pedal shaft pushes the rubber seal against the bottom of the floor. So it must be installed under the floor.
They really are not used to position the pedals, mostly only to prevent the "Clunk" !
