To those that own Avantis, take a look at the Studebaker name plate, the parts book claims the name plate is secured with (4) G4411251 6-32 stamped nuts and (4) 1331877 gasket sealer. I have owned numerous Avantis, not one had these parts, instead my cars all had what I would call a tiny push in barrel type of fitting, the prongs in back of the Studebaker emblem simply push into these tiny fittings. What is your experience?

Sam, it sounds like what you found on your Avantis is the same as what was used on the Larks, Hawks etc. for the same Nameplate on metal.
The "Book answer" sounds better, but maybe only Sherwood's '64 got them !StudeRich

Put mine on with barrel clips . Did the same on the ones on the rear 1/4 sail panel. The chrome on the old ones where so bad I just took a small screw driver and cut them off and after painting it put on new ones with new barrel clips and never again will I ever have to remove any interior trim to remove them. The Studebaker Avanti name plate is the same as what is on a lark. My Avanti one the chrome was shot but had one on the tailgate of a 60 lark wagon. Compaired them and same same.

Steve, you just brought up something that has bothered me for over 50 years, the "S" emblem on the rear 1/4's..........if Studebaker had used barrel clips it would be super easy to replace the retainer and or the actual emblem!!..........only because I replaced the weatherstrip on the rear window was I able to replace the retainers and emblems with NOS that I have had for over 50 years. I assume Studebaker was concerned that the use of barrel clips would entice wanton theft by vandals?? As to the Avanti nameplate secured with those nuts, again the use of barrel clips on the emblem would have made replacement a snap, now I have to remove the front SS grill and crawl underneath the front end to R&R the plate.
