  • Body / Glass: door striker alignment question

63 gt hawk: I replaced the striker on the drivers side because it was broken. I installed the new one identical to the old one but unless I apply slight downward pressure on the door, it doesn't close, it hits the striker. I don't think I can lower the striker any more than it is, which I tried to resolve the issue. Before this, the door closed like a swiss watch. Any ideas?

I believe your latch is hitting the the BOTTOM of the striker. Raise it a bit.

Yes, if you are pushing down on the door to get it to close, the striker needs to be moved upwards

sometimes it is a matter of tilt. You may be able to twist the striker to tilt the front down while kicking the back up. Could be the front is kicked up just enough to catch.

Exactly, I always adjust the ramp on the striker lower outside, higher in back to raise the door as it closes

Thank you all. I'll give it a try. I believe I already tried raising it, but I'll double check. I didn't think I could adjust it higher.
