If you drill new mounting holes as required, and weld up the holes you don't need anymore, it should fit fine.

The lower Door and Rear Quarter Panel holes and front Upper now needed, for the Daytona Mouldings will need to be drilled on a Regal, so plug the excess somehow.

The Sheet Metal is all the same between Models, so the Fit should be as good as Factory IF you drill in the right places.

These do not quite match up, but I think the whole Door is low.

Not sure I understand the post title, speaking in tongues?

Anyway, as others have said. But for the places where you might need new holes, maybe just trim the trim and use a good trim adhesive instead? That way you are not drilling new holes into your bodywork. In other words, alter the trim to work, not the body panels? But if you don't care about some new holes in some nice painted original panels, then yes, best to just drill the new holes and do it the way the factory did.

The line-up of holes for rear fender molding clips for ‘62 Regal vs. Daytona is way more different than you think. Unless your car is about to be repainted, there is very little overlap on the Regal vs. Daytona moldings. If you were thinking it might be doable without drilling, filling of existing holes, and then paint work. I suggest you look at your Regal moldings and decide they look pretty darn good as is.

It's been years since I worked on this area but memory seems to tell me that the original moldings have (or need) a slot on the lower edge for the Daytona pieces to fit underneath. I'm not sure if the Regal models have that cut out. Part numbers for the moldings may be different, I can't say since all my manuals are packed awaiting for my new office to be finished. Contractor (me!) is mighty slow!

If you bought both upper and lower Mouldings Door and rear fender it will work, I didn't mention what Warren said because I assumed you had the full set.
I believe there IS an indentation on the bottom of the Top Daytona Mouldings for the lower Daytona Trim but it doesn't matter, because the Regal Mouldings do not work with Daytona Trim.

However, I now see what Jerry (Studebakercenteroforegon) is saying.

The L & J6 Regal models share the TWO piece "dip down" Front & Rear of rear fender, body side mouldings with the F4 Deluxe 2 Door Sedan.
The L & J8 Daytona Hardtops have one single Straight, upper, rear quarter Moulding, NOT Two !

So Jerry is correct, many holes need drilling and plugging, but if you have a welder, Anything is possible !

thanks all and pardon my unintended title weirdness.
i was hoping against hope the regal trim would pop off and the daytona trim would pop right in. not to be. i won't risk my nice paint to try. do like the daytona trim on the hardtop, though
