  • Cool/Heat: V8 Fan hub spacer

The pictures show the machined aluminum spacer that goes between the water pump and the pulley. I'm not sure if it is on all post 61' V8s, but I cannot find a part number in the parts books. I would like to order one of these from a vendor (if I have the part#,) or if anyone has one to sell, I would be pleased to buy one!

Most all Non. A/C, Non-Viscous Drive Fan V8's '59-'64, get the quite common 1539063 Spacer.

Look in the '59-'64 Studebaker Chassis Parts Catalog Page 142, Cooling Section, Group 0506, under "Fans".
    A learning opportunity.

I thought those usually went between the fan and the pulley, not between the pulley and pump? So are fan spacers, not pulley spacers. But I guess they could work either way.

No, if you put it behind the pulley, the belts wouldn't line up any longer.

Agree, that is what I thought. So on top of the pulley, to space the fan out closer to the radiator for better air pull, not under and then move the pulley alignment and mess up the belt.

My engine is an R1, with the thick vibration dampener. That aluminum piece spaces the pulley out farther than with the thinner non-R series engines, as they have a thinner dampener.

Weird part. I've never found one. Last one I got at Arnold Motor Supply and took it into the machine shop where he machined it to fit - and didn't even charge me for it. Don't want to DITY 'cause it must be exactly true - if it is off by just a little it could cause fan wobble and water pump failure.

I have one. It’s definitely the spacer for the radiator fan. Did you want it?

If the Danny says he needs a spacer I believe him. Danny, the one in your pic looks to be about 1/2" thick, which is kinda hard to come by. I have probably 10 of the common 1" thick ones, but only a couple of the 1/2" ones. Are you coming to the Intl Meet in PA next week? If so, I will toss one of the 1/2" ones in the trunk for ya.

I can't make it to the meet, unfortunately, but I would be happy to purchase one and pay for shipping!
