  • Clutch / Torque Converter: Flywheel removal

I have the nuts off the flywheel. Now how do I get the flywheel off? Bump it with a dead blow hammer or do I need a flywheel puller? (1956 PowerHawk, 259, manual)
    Thanks,

It should come off fairly easily. Do yourself a favor and put a couple of those nuts back on loosely so that when it comes loose it won't fly off and hit/damage something you don't want it to. Looks like you live near the coast so some corrosion between the crank and flywheel is not totally out of the question. Try some penetrating oil in the obvious places and let it set awhile. I like to use a rubber mallet to tap it loose, rotating the flywheel as you go. Don't over do the pounding, it should break loose without to much effort. If not, someone else might have a better idea. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice Hawk CT SS. I put a few nuts back on loosely, a few bumps with my plastic dead blow, and wala, piece of cake. That thing is 'weigh' heavier thanI imagined it would be!
