  • Exhaust: 57 to 59 hawk exhaust size.

Here I go again. I’m going to order AC2840 exhaust tips from SI.
but before I do. I would like to know what size 1957 to 1964 hawk rear exhaust pipes are. I just had a new exhaust put on my 55 coupe and I had 2” pipes put on.
I’m hoping the tips are for 2inch pipes. The lady at SI said the chassis book would have that dimensions.befire Someone says you should put ac2701 on my car. They are discontinued.

Since most exhaust tail pipes from those years have been replaced it is hard to tell what you have on in relation to what the original pipes were. I'm sure there is some wiggle room on whatever extension you choose to make it fit.

I agree with bezhawk, The pipes on my 62 GT are 1 3/4" from the mufflers on back. I would think that the replacement exhaust tips will be for a 1 3/4" pipe. Bud

I know what mine are. 2”. The lady at Studebaker International acted like I need to look in the chassis book.
To find out the size of there tips. I agree if she measure her tips. It would make a fast answer to the question.

The AC-2840's will adapt to 1 3/4, 1 7/8 or 2 Inch, they are Clamp style.

Most of these things are 'one size fits all'.

Probably the only one that is quite limited to diameter is the Cast Metal one, common on '55-'56 and Standard on '55 Speedsters the AC-2701 not available at this time.

A dozen years ago when I first got my '57 Packard Wagon, I ordered complete new exhaust from Park's Pipes. Mary Parks indicated she had the original dies
and was replicating just as Studebaker did in 1957. I don't have the car here but the diameter is VERY small by today's standards(probably 1 3/4" as indicated above).
