I recently purchased a 'kit car' 1958 Packard Hawk. It has been mostly restored, but partially assembled, hence I am sorting thru parts and trying to figure out some 'mysteries'. The newest adventure is trying to determine how the vacuum from the carburetor 'air box' is routed to the dash vacuum gauge and also to the distributor vacuum advance. Presently, I have the fitting at the air box, the fitting at the distributor, and the fitting on the gauge. Can someone with a Golden Hawk (or a Packard Hawk), please take a picture of how this hose should be connected? Thanks Howard

I don't have a GH here, to help with the Air Box Tube, but I believe the Vacuum Gauge would be the same as Non-Supercharged Cars and connected to the "T" Fitting in the Left Rear of the Intake Manifold for the Gauge and the Power Brake Booster if equipped.
Looks like just TOO much "Stuff" in there to see much, sorry.
I think you will find that the "LS" Engine Number is about THE only difference between the two.Last edited by StudeRich; 12-07-2022, 11:56 AM.StudeRich

Thanks Rich. I had forgotten about the fitting for the power brake booster (which my car does have).Howard - Los Angeles chapter SDC
