Looking through previous posts i can surmise that the Moog CC655 are the best springs to fit on my Lark but as they have been discontinued for some years i cannot find a set or a replacement. I am in Spain so not really practical to go calling around the U.S. to try find a NOS set however there are spring makers this side of the pond that can do a set but need a sample or original specs. I don't have a sample as i don't have Moog CC655's fitted so have to go with the specs so does anyone know the dimensions/spring rate ect.. of the Moog CC655 . I see Eaton Springs have made to order sets for $300!!! but to get a set custom made in Spain or U.K. is around $160-200 .

These are still available: "The springs can still be found at O Reilly Auto Parts. Cross the Moog CC655 Number or use:
SP 08055."
There are other Parts Stores that also sell SP 08055.

I did look at the SP 08055 but it does not appear to be a variable rate spring like the Moog CC655 or are the SP 08055 variable rate?
Also buying from O'Reilly i would have to search their numerous stores to try find one that ships internationally as most of these big auto stores are shipping in U.S. only .
I can get coil springs custom made for $160-200 a pair and leaf springs for $500-600 a pair but i need original specs or specs of a spring known to fit , even the rear leaf springs i can't seem to find any original specs. I tried getting specs of U.S. spring makers but it's like your asking for top secret info.

Have found the Moog CC655 info i was looking for on this SDC site on the tech tips from Bob Johnstone , should have maybe looked there first. I did search a lot using the different cross references but seems only O'Reilly have them and they do not do international shipping which is understandable and no luck in Europe as the cars the Moog CC 655 fit don't exist here.

It was stated recently in Turning Wheels that the CC655 springs are heavy duty and may raise the front of your car. That may not be desirable. A while back there was some discussion of a lighter duty version of these springs. Does anyone know anything about them and their availability? I have a '64 Hawk that sits too low in front and a '64 Avanti R2 that sits too high. I would like to fix that issue on both cars.

That is one thing that i thought questionable using heavy duty rear cargo springs on the front of a car but most people seem to like the Moog CC655 but i agree that a lighter spring would seem more appropriate for the front suspension.
I have a Mopar 318 with OD trans fitted and the old springs compressed from just over 14" without engine to just under 10" with engine but i have no fluids , radiator , alternator and the trans has no clutches in it so i guess with everything fitted the old flathead springs will be overloaded. The engine is 525 Ib and the trans with OD & TC 225 Ib so i asume i am close to the weight of the Stude V8 set up if not a bit heavier maybe.
