  • Engine: Carb mounting gasket 1960 Lark VIII

I've seen multiple " rebuild" kits but none seem to include the correct mounting gasket for the 2 bbl on my 259. I can fabricate one but I'd prefer to find a manufactured gasket.
Any suggestions to find this , should be simple, gasket that no one seems to sell ?

Don't know what kit(s) you are buying, but I've never had a problem with base gasket designs offered in kits. Matter of fact, most kits I've seen, offer two or more base to bowl gaskets and two or more base (carburetor to manifold) gaskets.
I've bought different brands over the years and all seem to be very similar, which sorta says that only one or two companies actually make the sets and offer them to different companies for their sales.

Maybe a coupla pictures of the manifold and the various gaskets that you have, may tell a full story.

This is what my parts book calls for in 1960 259 w/ 2 bbl. Does this look like what you need?

The '57 to '64 Stromberg Base Gasket should be the Kidney shaped inside opening one with only ONE opening 1540006.

I believe the 2 Hole one shown is for '53 to '55 or '56.

I guess you are not shopping at Studebaker Vendors.

Rich is correct. The one shown in post #3 is for an earlier application. If you need the correct 1540006 gasket, we have them in stock. Plus, all of the kits we sell have the correct gasket.

I've also looked at some of the current aftermarket kits offered at various flaps and they appear to have the correct gasket assortment for several different Studebaker applications and more?

It is extremely important that the mounting gasket for the later WW Strombergs have the little notches at both sides of the main opening. This provides the vacuum source for the automatic choke operation.
