  • Exhaust: 1956 Power Hawk exhaust pipe (bell housing to muffler) single exhaust

    Hello,
I am confused about the part numbers for the single exhaust pipe (bell housing to muffler). The chassis parts book
has the number 0401-1-3 in the diagrams. The part numbers corresponding to this number are 536490, 536428,
    536491, 1545258, and 1545259. 536428 has C and K in the description and covers the 56B body,
but 536490 also appears to cover the 56B body.
    Thank you for your help.

536428 is the ONLY one that fits a 56B C & K BODY! You must look to the right end where it gives the Year & Model it fits to find the correct Part.
(YES, there were Canadian built '56 Commander 259 (56B), K Model Hardtops.)

    The 536490 says: W, F, D & P: Sedans and Wagons '55 to '57, NOT C & K Coupes and Hardtops!

To get a part match for a Car, you MUST consider the BODY TYPE (following the Part Name) AND the Year and Model at the Right.

The body tag has 56B-C3 then the body number.
I have found that you need all three service books as they cross reference to each other.
Makes for an interesting time, but that's part of the process.
