  • Engine: Adjusting Valves on a 1937 Studebaker

    Hi guys,
I recently purchased a 1937 Dictator sedan and have been working on rebuilding the fuel system. I had the intake/exhaust manifolds off for some machine work, so I thought it would be a great time to adjust the valves. I have the shop manual, but it doesn't give a great description. Can someone explain the correct process to adjust the valves? I can manually turn the engine over, but not sure of the correct procedure. I'd like to adjust them tomorrow and finish putting the manifolds back on.
Also, I have a NOS intake/exhaust gasket. One side looks metal, while the other is copper. Which side goes against the block? Thanks for helping me out on my new project!

The copper side of the manifold gasket (copper rings on some gaskets) goes towards the manifold. Try this for the valves...........
