  • Frame / Springs: Lark Frame Front Clip

    First question,
Has anyone ever used an "Industrial Chassis Inc." front clip for a "C-body" on a Lark frame?

    Next question,
Dose anyone have contact info for a guy named Bill Holges, (Hodges?), in Wisconsin? I saw a YouTube post from 2011 where a guy put a front clip on a Lark by Bill but no contact info.

Compare the frame drawings, I suspect they are close from the attachment point forward for the IC clip. Here it is on a C/K frame

Looking at the frame drawings for a C-body vs. the Lark the dims all seem the same from the front to the spindle center line. The elevations are the same as well. If you do the math between the two different drawings on the point at which the frame kicks up it is the same as well. So I think it is safe to say the C-body clip will fit a Lark. I have a friend a couple hours north that has a bare Lark frame and I have a bare C-body frame so I can make a template of mine and take it up there and confirm it is the same. I will take a trip next weekend.

I would still like some info on the Holges, (Hodges?), stub if anyone has contact info.

Which ever way you go....have them do it up for coil overs, makes 'tuning' a lot easier.
The IC clip allows you to buy all the necessary bits from a variety of suppliers depending on the purpose of the build.
I can't wait for spring to try mine out.Click image for larger version

          Billy,

What is the center frame X-member from? I see you lost the rear foot wells in favor of exhaust through the frame. Nicely done.

It is out of an Avanti, same as Wagonaire and Convertible, does make for some tight plumbing but as you can see it's possible.

FWIW I used a first gen Camaro front clip on my 51 Starlight Coupe and it fit nicely. I am using a 350 Chevy engine mated to a TH 400 transmission with a Gear Vendors overdrive. The body mounts on each side of the firewall nearly matched up to the mounts on the Camaro front clip. I am going the Pro Touring route on this build so I got Global West A arms, a HD front sway bar and tall ball joints. There is a wealth of aftermarket parts available for this front suspension.

I got responses from Fat-Man Fabrications and Scott's today. They both make a kit. They both said they will send more info tomorrow. Industrial Chassis sent photos of their "coil-over" front clip with tubular control arms and sway bar this morning. Looks like a front clip may be something to consider once the car is home. Industrial's photos attached.

                    Bill,

Steve said today they do a complete frame. I take it this is one. What is this one for? I am not following on the path for the driveshaft?

You might want to chat with Michael Scarabino in Florida about his project, which used a Morrison chassis.
The engine mounted quite a bit lower and he was able to fit everything in quite nicely.
