  • Body / Glass: 2R Truck Door Window Guide

I'm sure this subject has been covered before but I can't find any information. I have 8 doors for a 2R truck and every one of them has the window guide mounting point broken off at the top. This is the point where the two screws attach the window guide to the door just under the top of the window glass when it is down. The parts book shows the bracket #653472 "For Service Only" which I would assume means it was used in the factory only and not as a replacement part. Since all my doors are this way it would seem to be a common problem and surely someone has come up with a repair procedure. It is not in a location that could be welded with any confidence of holding. Suggestions?

Don't have access to my truck or parts books at the moment, but the definition of "for service only" is the reverse of what you assumed. It means a part that was not installed by the factory, but could be installed by a dealer to repair a problem.

Yep, repair part. See if you can get the blueprints on the part. I'd bet it can be made. OR maybe bought if a vendor has any.

I show having 5 of these in stock. Send me a Personal Message (PM) for the details.

Update: All 5 of the brackets have been spoken for. Thanks.

Let us know if you need the service bulletin instructions to install this part.

The question was asked about how bracket 653472 works, so I've attached a couple photos which hopefully helps answer the question.

A later S/B, #281, says a serial number is no longer needed as this is now a regular service part. In other words "we are no longer campaigning this part".
