  • Engine: CNC Heads For Stude V8's Now Available - See Them At South Bend 2017

Picked these up from the CNC machine shop this morning....

Still need to do the hand work prep, and then off to the machine shop for guides/seals/valves/springs/retainers.
    All new hardware.

Please note that this is the raw state... They will be much nicer looking after prep.
But.. You get a good look at the heads. They are nice.....

They look pretty just the way they are. How many arms and legs will they cost?

Reminds me of a conversation between Adam and God.

After God told Adam he was getting a helper, Adam put in his "order". Wanted an affectionate woman that was always "ready", that liked to cook and clean, never argued, and would attend to Adam's every need.
"Hmmmm" says God. "I am afraid that may cost you an arm and a leg."

Not to highjack the post but I have a question: Has anyone ever come up with a new-and-improved head for the OHV 6? I wouldn't mind having a 6-cylinder for a runabout, but the whole cracking head thing worries me.

Yes, you did highjack the post, but this happens several times a day here and no, no one has ever come up with a new-and-improved head for the OHV6.

I heard the original computer was tried with Adam and Eve...
It was an Apple, and a very bad one at that. It only took one byte for everything to crash.

                  Yes sir.
This is a long running development project.
Much has been written about it on the Performance Studebaker forum.

This is a fairly conservative product that is designed to noticibly improve what is currently available.
The CNC process was done on a ported Studebaker cylinder head that has been flow verified.

All of the components used in the product being offered are NEW components.
And the components come from current Studebaker vendors.

I will be happy to answer any technical questions.
The initial roll out of the product offering will be the SDC International Meet in South Bend in May (2017).
This was carefully chosen to give the most credence to the SDC and its members.
The teaser pic's and comments made here are just that. The intention is to create interest in a positive way.
I am not witholding any information, but this forum is not the greatest place to try and bring out something new.
This is intended to be a great 'bolt on' replacement cylinder head that will bring performace gains to ANY Studebaker V8 engine.
All I ask is that we keep the discussion to the technical facts about the positive aspects about the product and not just pick it apart for forum divergence.

SO, where do we find you at SB? Do you have tables inside with the vendors or an outside space? I remember this topic before on the forum and was wondering what had happened or if there was additional progress made.

Jeff, which guides will you be having installed on these heads.

I remember driving the old guides out of some of these heads.....and I wonder why my left arm is bigger than my right, or is it the other way around.....I'm so confused!

                        Excellent question..
Am brining my enclosed trailer, which has been jury rigged into a mini showroom.
Don't know exactly where they will place me ( I asked to be on the building outer wall with a power outlet, but we'll see about that)

Look for a silver trailer with a checkered flag awning. Hopefully with a bunch of guys/gals all setting in lawn chairs

(Here's a pic of the dummy 'display' go/no go manifold test engine for the show... Should enter it in the 1:1 scale model class)

Bronze guides are installed, and machined for Teflon valve guide seals.

Followed the entire process on RS. I got exhausted just reading about the amount of effort you've expended. Stude fans are lucky to have folks like you that will take the time and effort to enhance the breed.

                            Well done, Bob

I have many new and used cylinder heads.
                              Do you need cores?
I also have many single barrel intakes if you need any.
N.O.S. full flow blocks and pistons and many good used 6 and V8 engines.
I do not think that I will be able to go to South Bend this year.
I may try to get a ride and go for one day.
I will have tons of new and good used sheetmetal for pickup only.
in Joliet Ill.Intersection of Interstate 80 and Interstate 55.
