  • Frame / Springs: Champ Truck Lowering Question

A Buddy of mine is looking for anyone who has lowered their 63-64 Champ 1/2 ton. If you did, how? Lowering Blocks? Spring Modifications? His super nice modified 64 SWB Champ sits too high.
Any pictures of your finished projects?
    Thanks.

here you go...... 62 Champ, Volare subframe, wilwood discs, Bilstein shocks, Firm feel tubular a arms, progressive steering box, and Heidt's 4 link rear end with adjustable coil overs. Steers, brakes and rides phenomenally!

So that pretty much tells you to tell him, to put Lower profile tires on it and FORGET It.

I raised the Toyota T cab so I can not understand why someone would want to lower a Tcab BUT it really would not be that hard to do. Can your friend weld? I made all my own shackels front and back and when I towed it down to the allignment shop it was dead nuts on even for toe so they did not charge me.

Raising a Toyota and lowering a T-cab isn't in the same zip-code,not if you do it right, you better have some skills and a deep pocket---just saying!

StudebakerGene, your truck looks about a trillion percent better than the stock height. I've only had one Champ (I like the "round cabs: and CE's better), but that definitely makes it look so good !

Thanks j.byrd, I also am a C.E. lover and owner, the rounded cab trucks never really excited me. I have owned several Champs and I have always modified them somewhat, I think they make great looking "Rods."

My Ce is pretty low in front with the mustang 2 style front end. The back is stock ht except for the height of the tires. I'm gonna remove a leaf or two in back to soften up the ride and get the truck more level. I hope it will make the steering more inclined to center itself after a turn too.

Can anybody tell me how much taking one leaf out of a CE will lower it?

ID:	1713274The build I am working on right now is based on a Champ frame, we relocated the spring hangers and removed 5 leaves from the rear springs and that dropped it 6 inches. The frame now sits level with no drive train. I don't know what we will do on the front end yet.
