After life happenings I finally got out to the car again. Following the advise from you guys I pulled the distributor AGAIN and looked very hard at everything. You all were correct it was a grounding issue and a Timing Issue.
The post that comes out of the side of the distributor has the coil wire on the outside and the points on the inside. Well not being a mechanic it took a while for me to see but there is suppose to be an insulator on the inside and outside so that the two wires are not contacting the distributor. I didn't have one so I made a temporary one out of a small piece of cardboard and a thin piece of plastic like a soda bottle. I tested it and still not starting but had fire at the plugs.
The last problem that I discovered after talking to some older mechanics to watch the direction of the rotor button as I turn the engine over by hand. To my surprise the rotor turned counter clockwise and I had the cap wired clockwise with the firing order. I changed that put gas in carb and there you have it.
I will always keep checking here for more info.
FYI. I have ordered the correct parts from SI and should get them this weekend.
