Please figure it out .. Love to see the old vintage trailers .
Yeah a 6cyl Lark Wagon would not be very ideal for pulling a trailer ..
    259 V-8 with a 3spd OD ..
How much does the trailer weigh ?
    Love my Lark

That's the problem, sometimes people forget that Trailering is ALL about Axle Ratio, Engine Torque & H.P. as WELL AS Braking ability.

A High geared rear axle Ratio with a Lower Numerical ratio than around 3.73 or 4.09 and a small, low H.P. Low Torque Engine ESPECIALLY A Stude. Six, is just not up to the job of doing Highway Speeds or Hills at all, and WILL result in overheating and Engine damage.

And also a Stude. Six has smaller BRAKES than the much more capable V8 Cars.

We never saw any of those here on the Left Coast, they must have been built on the East Coast (or near) .

Leo Horishny has one of the nicest lark wagons for sale that I have seen lately. I believe it's an original California/Nevada car all it's life, 6 cylinder stick with OD, he wants 4K for it--- his email is horishny@saturnnet.com, he had it available a month or so ago, if I hadn't just purchased a Coupe Express I was definitely interested in it--- it's nice and original paint I think!

FWIW: I just got an e-mail from Dale "Lark Parker" McPhearson's son Barry, Son-o-Lark here on the forum, that he [Barry] wants to sell his two 1963 Daytona Wagonaires, one of which is a parts car. If anyone is interested, you could contact Barry or particulars through the forum's e-mail feature. BP

Studerich, I believe the pathfinders were made in Wisconsin.

Thanks studebakergene. Leo's wagon does indeed look very nice, I just wish it had two more cylinders.

That Lark of Leo's is pretty nice. And its priced very well for one that good looking. And its not very difficult to add those two extra cylinders. Decent running 259s with 3 speed transmissions are not terribly hard to find. A brake and spring upgrade would put you a lot of money ahead in the bargain. Not to mention the money you could recoup from selling a good running 6. Besides, you could drive the wheels off it while you collect the pieces and parts you need for the upgrade.
                        Just my thoughts.

Since we're on the subject of 61 Larks, my 61 Lark Deluxe is for sale. Older restoration currently advertised in Turning Wheels. OHV 6, overdrive, dual headlights, original interior, very clean and good driver. Priced right at US$4,900.

Definitely the direction I am leaning towards at this point. I have a complete chassis From a 259 3 speed wagon, I don't know if it runs though. I emailed leo, would like to see a few more pictures.

As far as towing is concerned, I drove my Daytona (259 V8 with powerglide) to Sacramento for the meet in 2003 towing a Trillium molded fiberglass trailer that dry weight was 1085 lbs according to the manufacturer and I figure was 1500 lbs with my stuff in it. Car behaved great although it did run hot on the desert run, but this was due to the 307 rear end. Have since changed to a 373 rear end and its a "perfect" tow vehicle. That was a 7500 mile trip over 7 weeks as we took the long way home. Don't be afraid to tow with a Stude V8.

                                Stude61,

what this car lacks in cylinders it makes up for in a fantastic solid body, it runs sweet. I had rather swap a V8 than torture myself with rust repair--- remember it's an original West Coast car!
