How or WHY would a '64 Daytona have a GM (Old Chevrolet) Transmission?

I think a lot of folks assume that any 2 speed automatic is a powerglide. Its almost being used like Kleenex is for a tissue, or Windex for glass cleaner.

Yeah BUT, a Powerglide IS a 2 Speed, a Flight-O-Matic is a THREE Speed that starts in Second, apples and oranges.

You are right. It is a flight-o-matic. Just had a brain fart since my current project wears a bow tie. Yes I did start in low when towing to use all three gears.

I just spotted a 57 V8 wagon on Craigslist in Montana, looked straight.

Yeah, I know that and you know that, but still there are folks, (not you, Bob...) who still don't think about it enough to make the connection. Perhaps they've never put their foot in it enough to find that extra "passing gear".

Could that be this '56 Parkview V8 2 Door Wagon? It's in Arlee, Montana.
It says Manual Trans. but can't verify or tell if it is Overdrive, no Interior Pics.

Oh man, that Parkview is so right for me. What a fun project that would be, my ideal Stude wagon.
I want it bad enough to check on the drive ...25 hours one way. I'm not a big fan of buying sight unseen and shipping. No vacation time left because of too much fun family time planned this summer.
I'm going to sit here and pretend I never saw that ad. Wagon, what wagon?

Even further for me. Man, that wagon would be a great candidate for a later roof swap like sals54 did.

Yes Bob I tried to make sense out of that fuzzy, Tiny, Distant Pic but it won't enlarge, so I thought it was a GUESS as to what all that junk on the Firewall really is.

I usually look for the Kickdown Switch because all Factory O.D. Cars have them, but no chance of seeing that with a Cellphone Pic.

It enlarged for me, Rich, and I'm sure that's what all that hardware is. BP

That looks like a very solid wagon .. Decent price.. Arlee is not a big place . I have driven through there often heading to Missoula for mountain biking and Frisbee golf. To bad there are no interior pics..
                            Love my Lark
