Nearly complete (finally)

Well...she's finally almost done! Here's a couple pics of the Rumble Seat '61 Lark that I've been tinkering with for nearly 25 years. She went on her maiden voyage a couple weeks ago and yesterday I drove her into town to get a wheeel alignment and new exhaust. All I have left to do is put in the side glass and work out a few little bugs. I can't turn off the windshield wipers and the interior lights don't work. Also here are a couple of pics of when I found her in the barn in the summer of 1989. I think she feels better now! Hopefully I get her back from the shop in a few days and can finish the details and still have some summer left to enjoy driving her. I'm happy with how she turned out. Not a professional restoration but it sure will be a great driver...I hope.

Alreary have had a local politician ask if he could use it in a parade. I should have told him I didn't want a load of BS in the rumble seat.

I don't think so. The insurance company knows what it is. I talked with their underwriters to come up with an insurance value because of its oddity and they didn't seem to have any problems with it. They said it can be used for shows, parades and civic events and limited personal use.

Just a precaution, put seat belts in the Rumble Seat.

I had a relative who worked in ER in the thirties. She said their worse cases came from people thrown from Rumble Seats.

Do you have any history on the original conversion?

I actually met the two guys that did the rumble seat conversion on all 4 cars in '61. I have some copies of photos that they had from back then and I took a lot of notes as we talked.
