  • Okay, at one time I would have gone thru this whole thing to make sure it hasn't been mentioned yet...but as I do not have the time, and I just watched the movie this weekend (and it probably is mentioned in this thread already) In The movie "A League Of Their Own" with Tom Hanks, Madonna and others, for about a half second, for the first game of the Womens World Series (I think it was the first) There is a shot of the front of the Stadium with what looks like an early forties Studebaker (41?) Definitly a Studebaker, though. (My wife hates it when my favorite thing about movies is the breif studebaker shots. She can't get her head around how exited I get over that)

    1963 Lark, 259 V8, two-tone paint, Twin Traction.

    • The movie 'A League Of There Own' was shot around Evansville, IN. One of my friends had his 1941 Studebaker Commander used during the filming. He was an extra in the film but did not get past the cutting room.

      • Late to the party, but better late than...I watched a couple of oldies this weekend.

In "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House" (1948), Cary Grant and Myrna Loy move into the dream house with the aid of a Studebaker M series moving van. Curiously, they're moving from a small apartment to a huge house, so where'd they get two vans of furniture?

In "Border Incident" (1949), Ricardo Montalban plays an agent of the Mexican equivalent of the FBI, on the trail of what we now call coyotes, smuggling illegals across the border. The illegals are hidden beneath the bed of another M series. This one gets more action, including a scene where Ricardo climbs along the side and jumps in the cab to wrest control from the bad guy driver. Another supporting actor is bad guy Alfonso Bedoya (Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!).

        • Watched the movie Life of David Gale(2003) a Kevin Spacey, Kate Winslet movie.

Towards the end of the movie. Outside an old shack where a shady figure lives: Clearly visable: Green 4 door lark with weeds up to the beltline. Black rubber surround the rear window.

Did a thread search and did not find the Soprano's clip:
          1961 Lark, Teal/greenish dual headlights.
Season 1 episode 6......Tony has a flashback to his child hood, gets off the city bus, see's his dad, and uncle Jr. beating up on a guy in broad daylight.
LiL Tony hides out behind the lark and watches. (2 camera angles of same scene)

          • I watched a 1955 film today recorded on TCM called "Violent Saturday" starring Victor Mature and Richard Egan with Ernest Borgnine and Lee Marvin listed as supporting actors. A '55 Stude is in an early scene with a main character (J. Carroll Naish) waiting for it to pass so he can cross the street and later a '52 is prominently parked alongside a curb. I am sure I could have missed others. Since this movie is in color it is easy to identify dozens of early 50's cars used in the filming. A Mercury was the featured car. All of those great cars made it hard for me to concentrate on the plotline which was pretty good.

            • Maybe there will be a burgundy 1952 Land Cruiser in season 4 of Mad Men on AMC.
I had both my Studebaker and Edsel on location for that show May 5 2010.
The episode it worked on was outdoors at a house in San Pedro.
During various scenes it is parked in various places.
Depending on what angle they eventually edit into the episode, you will either see it in the background, or you won't.

The same Studebaker already was in season 1 of Mad Men.
There is a real good shot of it parked in front of a house (which was actually in Pasadena).
That was also shot on a May 5 but I forget the exact year, 2006 or 2007.

              • Another Studebaker in a Bond Film. In Diamonds Are Forever, during the police chase in the Las Vegas parking lot, towards the last part, a Studebaker Lark behind the booth/shack in the parking lot.

No offense intended or taken, this thread is long with lots of movies, but I mentioned this good Bond film as well.

And #40 (the bottom of the first page) as well...but there they say it's Goldfinger with a scene shot in Vegas.
However, Goldfinger had no scenes shot in Vegas, so it must be Diamonds Are Forever.

There is a Lark in Goldfinger, but it's in Louisville, not Vegas.

Are you kidding? LOL, did you see all the crap they had packed into that little flat? That's one of the reasons they moved to Conec-tea-cut! Also, another funny point was that when they moved in, there were no windows! I love that movie. LMAO all the way through it!

                          • I noticed a bullet nose Studebaker for a brief second or two in the 1973 movie "Magnum Force" staring Clint Eastwood. Dirty Harry and his partner are tailing a couple of cars across the Golden Gate bridge and the camera shot is from front looking towards Clint Eastwood as he is driving when you notice the bullet nose Studebaker.

                              • I had not heard that Bob Yale had passed :-(

We recently saw one of my favorite movies, American Graffitti. It featured many nice cars including a nice '55 coupe, a '53 coupe, and a 62 0r 63
4 dr Lark in a JUNK YARD scene of all things. The car would have been new if a '62 at the time setting of the movie & certainly should not have been in a junk yard. The same car was also in a later street scene.
We saw another of my favorites recently, Sweet Dreams, with Jessica Lange, which was about the short life of my favorite female vocalist, Patsy Cline. A scene at her manager's home featured a Packard Hawk!
