This would be my choice if I were to look at a 63-64.

OOPS!!! Pretty far away from you.

That is a pretty one, I wonder what it will go for. I don't see a "buy it now" price.
I've always been skeptical about buying a car on eBay, although it seems to be done a lot.

Why would they replace it with a 259?
      Why not a 289?
      Why not an 289 R-1?
Why not convert the R-2 into an R-1?

Sounds odd...especially for a car converted "back in the day".
BTW: From the photos I've seen, they did seem to find the correct AC interior parts...so someone took some care with the conversion.

I'm skeptical about buying a car anywhere not just Ebay. I've purchased a couple from Ebay, one from a for sale ad on a forum and one from Craigslist. They all had about the same amount of good description and same amount of undisclosed issues. It's just another place to buy a vehicle. As Jack said in a previous post "Trust but Verify".

I'd never buy one for any significant money without an inspection either personally or a trusted set of eye balls. One of the beauties of a large member forum like this is there is probably a set of eye balls close to any vehicle in question to take a quick look and get any pictures you may need.

Oh my gosh! It's actually non-metallic Red, RED! Like Studebaker Avantis never were built.

I would bet with that fake Body Tag that someone stuck on the door post, that it may even be registered by the Body Number instead of the harder to find Serial Number plate on the frame.

            what "StudeRich" said...

on top of that, the seller's "very little" history on ebay, one bidder making close to 50% of the bids, off reserve now (if there was one earlier), i'd have to "see it, feel it, touch it," etc. before thinking about a bid...

Not necessarily...with digital cameras the color is often waaay off. The photos I took of my Avanti red car come out looking non-metallic.
